Acts 13

Today we are reading Acts 13. In this chapter we read about Paul and Barnabas being sent out on the first missionary journey by the church in Antioch. “Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them.” Acts‬ ‭13:1-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ The church in Antioch sounds amazing! Led by the Holy Spirit, Paul and Barnabas begin the first missionary journey. There seems to be no hesitation or fear on the part of the missionaries. They immediately start proclaiming the Gospel on Cyprus which is the home of Barnabas. Have you ever proclaimed the Gospel around your hometown? Are you afraid to share your faith? What is the best possible outcome if you proclaim the Gospel? How does that compare to the risk? May God send you on your own missionary journey to preach the Gospel! Pastor Tim
