Today we are reading 2 Timothy 4. In this chapter we read how God stood by Paul even when everyone else abandoned him. “At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:16-18 ESV Have you ever felt abandoned? What did you do? Paul is writing from prison and has suffered great persecution. He has physical injuries from the torture he endured. When we have physical pain we also struggle emotionally and sometimes spiritually. Paul says that The Lord stood by him and strengthened him. God can do that! When you have struggles, remember God is near. Ask him to help you. Be confident that he will save you from the Lion’s mouth! Pastor Tim
