Today we are reading 2 Thessalonians 2. In this chapter we read about the man of lawlessness and the call to stand firm in our faith! “But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 ESV As we observe the world around us rapidly changing, it is essential for us to “believe the truth”. The Bible is the only reliable source of truth. In ways is the Bible under attack? What are some examples of societal trends that oppose the Bible? How can you stand firm? I heard a pastor on the radio say, “If it is wrong to say something in church, then why do we say it outside of church? If it offends us to see something in church, why do we watch it at home? If it’s not right to do something in church, then why do we do it some else?” The pastor makes a good point! If the devil can tempt us to violate God’s word in our private life we are being drawn into a life that compromises our faith. May you be firmly established in your faith in Jesus! Pastor Tim
