Today we are reading 2 Samuel 8. In this chapter we read about David’s victories and his administration. “So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people. Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder, and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was secretary, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were priests.” 2 Samuel 8:15-18 ESV With David we continue to see a steady development of government and religious practice. God blessed David with dramatic victories over the enemies to the southeast, east and northeast. The people of these nations had long inflicted God’s people with cruelty and paganism. God gave David victory to establish peace for His people. How has God given you peace? How has He defeated your hostile neighbors? What is the purpose behind God’s victories in your life? May God bless you to be a peacemaker! Pastor Tim
