Today we are reading 2 Samuel 16. In this chapter David is leaving Jerusalem to avoid war with his son Absalom. “When David had passed a little beyond the summit, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, bearing two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred bunches of raisins, a hundred of summer fruits, and a skin of wine. And the king said to Ziba, “Why have you brought these?” Ziba answered, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who faint in the wilderness to drink.””
2 Samuel 16:1-2 ESV In the midst of a terrible situation, Ziba is a blessing to David. Who has come to your assistance during a time of difficulty? Those are the people you remember. As a young pastor I went through a discouraging time. I remember a brother pastor who reached out to me. It made me want to be that kind of person for others. How have you been a blessing to those who are downtrodden? Who needs you to walk with them today? May God bless you to be like Ziba today! Pastor Tim
