Today we are reading 2 Samuel 1. In this chapter we read about David’s reaction to the death of Saul. “After the death of Saul, when David had returned from striking down the Amalekites, David remained two days in Ziklag. And on the third day, behold, a man came from Saul’s camp, with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. And when he came to David, he fell to the ground and paid homage. David said to him, “Where do you come from?” And he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.” And David said to him, “How did it go? Tell me.” And he answered, “The people fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead, and Saul and his son Jonathan are also dead.”” 2 Samuel 1:1-4 ESV Think of a time when you received the news of a loved-one passing. How did you react? When you spoke of them, how did you describe them? Imagine how David felt…he lost his best friend Jonathan, he lost his mentor/tormentor and king Saul and now he would have to step into the role of king. What an emotional and tumultuous time. When we don’t know what to say or do, we turn to God. May you turn to God today and find His wisdom and peace. Pastor Tim
