2 Peter 1

Today we are reading 2 Peter 1. In this chapter we read about how to be effective in ministry. The keyword for this chapter is “par-eis-fer-o”. The definition is “to bring in alongside of. Used idiomatically with the word “effort” to express the idea of bringing in every effort. We are to bring “into” this relationship “alongside” what God has done every ounce of determination we can muster.” “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Peter urges us to make every effort to add to our faith the seven qualities he lists. What do you do to make every effort? Which of the seven qualities is most lacking in your life (virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection and love)? What can you do to increase these qualities? How do they make your ministry effective?  Pastor Tim
