2 Peter 1

Today we are reading 2 Peter 1. In this chapter we read about the fact that Peter was an eyewitness of the Transfiguration! “For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬ At the time of the Transfiguration we wondered why those three (Peter, James and John) were on the mountain with Jesus. Now, 30 years later, Peter recalls the event and uses it as proof for the Gospel. In a short time, Peter would join Jesus, James and Paul in Heaven. His eyewitness experiences gave him great power as an evangelist. How would your faith be different if you were an eyewitness? Jesus is no less real to us and Christians universally anticipate the joy of Heaven with great excitement! May God make you a powerful witness of Jesus! Pastor Tim
