Today we are reading 2 Kings 8. In this chapter we read about the succession of wicked kings reigning in The Northern Kingdom/Israel, The Southern Kingdom/Judah and Syria. “In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, began to reign. He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.”
2 Kings 8:16-18 ESV So at this point, both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms are heavily influenced by wicked King Ahab. His son rules the Northern Kingdom and his daughter is married to the ruler of the Southern Kingdom. Wicked rulers result in misery for their people. What would it be like to live under idolatrous leaders? How can we maintain our faith in a faithless world? How can you counter the cultural wickedness of our times? May God use you to spread His truth, love and mercy. Pastor Tim
