Today we are reading 2 Kings 15. In this chapter the treachery between successive kings continues. We also read about God’s punishments on the kings and people. “And the Lord touched the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death, and he lived in a separate house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the household, governing the people of the land. In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and he carried the people captive to Assyria. In those days the Lord began to send Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah.” 2 Kings 15:5, 29, 37 ESV The behavior of God’s people, including their kings, was terrible. They were violent and corrupt and worshipped false gods. In response God caused illness, allowed invasions and even sent the invaders. Do you believe God does things like that today? If He did, what could you see as God’s punishments for our sins? How are we similar to the people of Israel and Judah? May you always walk humbly with the Lord. Pastor Tim
