Today we are reading 1 Timothy 5. In this chapter Paul writes about caring for widows and others. The keyword for this chapter is “a-po-di-do-mi”. The definition is “to give back, to return, to render”. “But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.” 1 Timothy 5:4 ESV The idea is that children should take care of their parents and grandparents as a way of “giving back” for all that they have received from them. How have you given back in your family? In your church? In your community? May God give you the Holy Spirit and make you fully aware of everything you have received and give you a spirit of generosity to bless others. Pastor Tim
