Today we are reading 1 Timothy 4. In this chapter we read about the importance of being faithful servants of God. The keyword for this chapter is “eu-se-bi-a”. The definition is “godliness, piety, religious devotion. It refers to the true reverence toward God which comes from knowledge. It is the right attitude to God and to the holiness, majesty and the love of God. “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8 ESV Paul writes that we are trained for godliness through “the words of faith and good doctrine.” The Bible is our foundation for everything we believe. To be trained as God’s servants we must read our Bibles! How can you grow in your faith? What new discipline or practice of your faith can you pursue? May God bless you with a hunger for His word.
