Today we are reading 1 Timothy 4. In this chapter we read about those who depart from the faith. “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV Who do you know that forbids marriage? Who do you know that requires the abstinence from foods? Whenever we make rules that God does not make, we depart from the faith. Deceitful spirits minimize Jesus and exaggerate the importance of people and false gods. How can you protect yourself from departing from the faith? Everything created by God is good. How can you make sure you do not misuse God’s good gifts? May God give you a thankful heart today! Pastor Tim
