1 Timothy 1

Today we are reading 1 Timothy 1. In this chapter we read about the importance and teaching the pure word of God. The keyword for this chapter is “par-ang-gel-lo”. The definition is, “to command, to charge, to instruct, to pass on commands from one to another. It is a military term meaning “to give strict orders “ and emphasizes that the commanding was to be authoritatively.” “As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:3-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Paul very strongly charges Timothy to make sure the true and pure word of God is taught. False teachers had already begun distorting the Gospel. How can false teaching be harmful to a believer? Who is behind all false teaching? What is his aim? May God establish and guard you in the truth of His word!  Pastor Tim
