Today we are reading 1 Samuel 3. In this chapter we read about how God spoke to the boy Samuel. “And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the Lord. And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.” 1 Samuel 3:19-21 ESV The entire story about young Samuel is strange and remarkable. Now, God is speaking to Him. This is true for all God’s prophets. He speaks to them and through them. Why was God choosing to do this through young Samuel? Does God do this today? Samuel’s response to God is worth repeating: “Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.” How do you respond when God speaks to you? May He speak to you and through you today. Pastor Tim
