1 Samuel 22

Today we are reading 1 Samuel 22. In this chapter we read about Saul killing the priests of Nob who helped David. “But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David. And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord. And David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have occasioned the death of all the persons of your father’s house. Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. With me you shall be in safekeeping.”” 1 Samuel‬ ‭22‬:‭20‬-‭23‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Abiathar is the only priest to survive the massacre at Nob. At this point it is clear that Saul does not fear God. His every action is driven by madness—killing priests is out right rebellion against God. Notice that even when powerful god-less men pursue God’s servant they are protected from harm. The same is true for us. God is with us no matter who is against us. Pastor Tim
