Today we are reading 1 Samuel 10. In this chapter we read about Saul being anointed as king. “Then the Spirit of the Lord will rush upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. When he turned his back to leave Samuel, God gave him another heart. And all these signs came to pass that day. Saul also went to his home at Gibeah, and with him went men of valor whose hearts God had touched.” 1 Samuel 10:6, 9, 26 ESV Notice how the Holy Spirit equipped and enabled Saul to be king. From God’s perspective, nobody could rule His people without being guided and gifted by the Holy Spirit. How would our country be different if this was a requirement to govern? As Christians we must be diligent in our prayers for those who are in leadership positions. Ultimately, we must remember that God is our King and we should do everything to please Him. Pastor Tim
