Today we are reading 1 Samuel 1. In this chapter we read about Hannah giving birth to her son Samuel. “So it went on year by year. As often as she went up to the house of the Lord, she used to provoke her. Therefore Hannah wept and would not eat. And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? And why do you not eat? And why is your heart sad? Am I not more to you than ten sons?” After they had eaten and drunk in Shiloh, Hannah rose. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.” 1 Samuel 1:7-10 ESV Have you ever been deeply troubled by something and poured out your heart to God about it? In those awful moments, when you feel unsure if God is listening, it seems impossible that something good could come from all of this. Look at Hannah—God gave her Samuel who became a great prophet. God blessed the nation of Israel when He answered Hannah’s prayer for a son. He gave her far more than she had asked for. You can be confident that God hears your prayers and will give you far more than that have asked for. Pastor Tim
