Today we are reading 1 Peter 2. In this chapter we read about our relationship with those in authority. “Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.” 1 Peter 2:13-17 ESV Peter’s words are powerful and wide-reaching. What about when our government is clearly anti-Christian? What about when our leaders are corrupt? What about…? The fulfillment of the Ten Commandments is love. This command speaks to every part of our lives. Love God and love our neighbor—and trust God to deal with evil. It is very hard to do. How does this impact how you think and act? My response is to pray even for those I didn’t vote for. Love them too! May God’s love in you amaze people today! Pastor Tim
