Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 9. In this chapter Paul writes about doing whatever is necessary for the sake of the Gospel. The keyword for this chapter is “dou-lo-o”. The definition is “to enslave, to make a slave of someone”. Paul uses this word in verse 19, “For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.”
1 Corinthians 9:19 Paul willingly suffers for the sake of the Gospel. He is willing to give up his rights so that he might save some in the proclamation of the Gospel. What do you give up for Jesus? How do you make yourself a slave for the salvation of others? How have people served you for your spiritual good? May God give you a spirit of generosity that you may sacrifice your will for His!
