1 Corinthians 2

Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 2. In this chapter Paul writes about the focus of his ministry. “And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:1-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Paul was writing to an audience that was steeped in philosophy. To those people he may have appeared simple and unsophisticated. The truth of the gospel is not complex. It is a simple message that requires childlike faith. Paul emphasizes that he was not trying to impress them with his education or intellect. Rather, he was trying to demonstrate God‘s power through the Holy Spirit. He was trying to teach them about the profound love of God for them. What is the focus of your ministry? How do you present the message about Jesus? What is your strategy  for reaching the lost in your neighborhood? May God give you the focus that Paul had in preaching about Jesus. Pastor Tim
