Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 16. In this chapter we read about a collection for the believers in Jerusalem that were going through a famine. “Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.”
1 Corinthians 16:1-4 NIV In this passage we get a little insight into charitable giving of the early Christians. How do you give consistently to the Lord? What is your strategy? My wife and I plan for the whole year what we give to our church. We also give to other Christian ministries on a regular basis and we give spontaneously when God moves us to do so. Have you ever suffered because you were generous? God will always supply what you need. When you give in faith, He will bless you. May God inspire you to be generous! Pastor Tim
