Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 14. In this chapter Paul writes about the appropriate use of spiritual gifts when gathering for worship. The keyword is “oi-ko-do-me-o”. The definition is “to edify, to build up. The present tense emphasizes the continual action that which is habitual or always true.” In the exercise of of our faith we must always do what is pleasing to God and beneficial for the church. “What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.” 1 Corinthians 14:26 ESV When you come to worship, how do you build up the church?
