1 Corinthians 14

Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 14. In this chapter we read about the gifts of prophecy and speaking in tongues. “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ As we consider the spiritual gifts, it is important to remember a couple things: 1)The spiritual gifts are powerful in doing battle with the devil. 2)The spiritual gifts are for the building up of the church. With this in mind, how do you use your spiritual gifts? Who is being blessed by your use of these gifts? Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” ‭‭The only way to effectively battle is to be equipped with the spiritual gifts, fitted with the armor of God and proclaiming the word of God.
