Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 1. In this first chapter of Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth Paul encourages the believers and reminds them of what God has given them. The keyword for this chapter is “klay-tos”. The definition is “called”. First, Paul makes it clear that he has been “called” by God to preach the Gospel. Next, he writes that the believers in Corinth have also been “called”. “To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:” 1 Corinthians 1:2 In this verse Paul makes the point that the “called” call upon Jesus as Lord. For thirty years I have served as a pastor. However, my call goes back sixty years to the time of my baptism. Your call goes back to your beginning in the Christian Faith. God has called you into faith and called you into service. What has He Called you to do? It is important to seek God’s direction in your life and understand His calling on you. May God encourage you today with His divine purpose for your life! Pastor Tim
