Today we are reading 1 Chronicles 9. In this chapter we read about the genealogies of the returning exiles. “So all Israel was recorded in genealogies, and these are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their breach of faith. Now the first to dwell again in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.” 1 Chronicles 9:1-2 ESV The first to return were the spiritual leaders of Israel. Why do you think this was so? When our ancestors came over from Germany, some groups of immigrants were led by pastors. Other groups very quickly built churches. Still others settled in communities with their countrymen which prominently featured Christian life and service. These emphases helped our ancestors to maintain and pass on their faith to the next generations. How does your faith-life help to keep you spiritually strong? How does it help you to pass on your faith to your children and grandchildren? May God bless you to make an eternal difference in the lives of those who come after you! Pastor Tim
