Today we are reading 1 Chronicles 8. In this chapter we read about the genealogy of Saul. “Jeiel the father of Gibeon lived in Gibeon, and the name of his wife was Maacah. His firstborn son: Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zecher, and Mikloth (he fathered Shimeah). Now these also lived opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem, with their kinsmen. Ner was the father of Kish, Kish of Saul, Saul of Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab and Eshbaal; and the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal was the father of Micah.”
1 Chronicles 8:29-34 ESV The genealogy of Saul is important because he was the first king of Israel. For the people of Israel all genealogies are important but key figures in their history are especially important. How important is it to you to know your history? To me, the history of Christianity in our family is very important. Going forward, who will look back with respect and reverence at your spot on the family tree? What would you like them to know about your faith? May God bless you to leave a god-pleasing legacy for your descendants. Pastor Tim
